Psychedelic Therapy
Psychedelic Therapy
The term psychedelic originates from two Greek words, “psyche,” meaning “mind” or “soul,” and “delos,” meaning “visible” or “manifest”.
Psychedelic plant medicines have been used for centuries and by many cultures to promote healing and well-being, as well as in various spiritual ceremonies and practices.
Psychedelic therapy is a wonderful and promising modality that has been shown to effect real, lasting change and transform lives. Psychedelic medicines work to bring on an ego-dissolving transcendent experience, which allows participants to compassionately examine their greatest traumas and fears, and, ultimately, to overcome them.
When used in a controlled environment under the guidance and support of trained professionals, and with the right dosage, set, and setting, psychedelic medicines are a powerful and safe tool that can be used to help treat a number of disorders such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, alcohol use disorders, and eating disorders with a high rate of success.
While many psychedelic medicines such as MDMA and psilocybin are currently in clinical trials for future legalization and are expected to be approved for use by the FDA within the next couple of years, ketamine is FDA approved and being prescribed legally for off-label treatment of mood disorders in the US.
In keeping with my commitment to train in and to competently deliver evidence-based therapies that have also proven effective for me personally, I have completed the highest level of training in psychedelic therapy through the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS). CIIS is one of the most respected and comprehensive programs training psychedelic therapists worldwide.
I have also been trained in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) through Fluence, and have attended an experiential, retreat-style training for therapists through Living Medicine Institute.
I am currently offering Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) in partnership with an organization called Journey Clinical.
Psychedelic therapy with Megan has been an incredibly life-changing experience for me. I was coming from a place of deep unhappiness in my life after struggling with suicidal depression and anxiety for many years. Megan’s warmth and compassion throughout the experience and her ability to calmly help me sort through the feelings and emotions that came up for me, both during and after, as well as her simply just being there to listen, has all been immeasurably healing to me. I have learned so much about myself and am continuously in awe of the amount of change I am now willing and able to incorporate into my life, despite my very real challenges, and the many ways in which my life has become infinitely better and more enjoyable to live. I would never have believed it was possible to experience life in the ways that I currently do. I feel like a completely new person from where I was when I started, and I credit Megan with helping me get here.
